TURRY LINDSTROM METAL ART
Turry Lindstrom is a Chattanooga native and creator of unique Metal Art.
To be happy and successful in life, I feel like it is necessary to follow your natural gifts. Coming from a family of artists (my father and sister are professional portrait artists, and another sister is a talented vocal artist), I looked for my art talent when I was young. My first attempt was in junior high school when I worked with sculpting clay. I won an award for my work, but I found I did not enjoy sculpting all that much. Later, learning to weld at Chattanooga State College in 2007, I became aware that I had a real ability for working with and welding steel. I learned quickly and really enjoyed working with “fire and molten steel”. There was a real thrill about producing work from these dangerous elements. It was not until working as an assistant on an ornamental iron project that I realized that I had an “artistic talent” working with steel. Excited about my new discovery, I began creating human and animal figures from leftover scrap for friends and family members. I found that not only did I have a talent in creating these small works of art, but I totally enjoyed every aspect of the process, starting with conceptualization, to the actual cutting, heating, melting, bending and welding.
I’ve spent the following years honing and developing my style and vision of my art which has grown my range of sculpting ability to incorporate not only fine art for a home or yard but also large-scale designs for hotels, corporations, and restaurants, parks, etc. bringing my style and vision while also harmonizing with designers directions and ideas.
